Also known by the nickname “Chapman Horses”
Basically a packing pony
Used by nobles and commoners alike
Popular with merchants a.k.a. “Chapmen”, hence the nickname
Easy keepers, small and stocky in build yet very strong and hardy
It was known to be a horse of low breeding standards and low value
Modern day comparisons include ; Fell Pony, Dales Pony, Cleveland Bay, and even Shetland Pony
